Mr. James at the last match you down loaded two rounds (two short of full) in your shotgun if my memory serves me correctly, that way every one had to do some sort of reload.

That sounds about right. I still like the idea of 7+1, in the spirit of being defensive oriented and not starting an arms race.

I believe my FNH MK1 will do nine . but I guess I will not be able to loader up. I like the idea of a reload during the stage though.

What shotgun did you get? I really like my M2, just wish I had gone for the 21" barrel instead of the 18". Someday, I'll turn this into my HD shotgun and retire my SuperNova pump. Then buy a 21" M2 and do everything I want with it... With my luck the 21" will end up being ammo picky though. The 18" eats everything and doesn't need to be clean.

I went with the mossberg 930. I looked around a lot but think for the price this will be a good starter. It will blow my 870 pump out of the water if nothing else.

I plan on being there. The only factor is getting hay put up. That being said, how many stages do you have prepared? Will you be needing our star and all of our steel plates? I know these 3gun matches are a lot of work and take all d**n day, but if we have door prizes and have advertised this shoot it needs to be over the top ( my opinion). It seems like most of our 3 gun matches thus far have been nearly identical. We need more variety, LONGER stages, higher round count (some folks come a long way to shoot, let them). I would like to see a target rich inviorment!! Run & Gun Let me know what I can do to help put on a hell of a shoot for everyone.

At the moment I'm planning on 4 stages. Most if not all will incorporate all three guns.

I will try to make this event, if haying does not get in the way to much. Fair warning if I have hay that will bale I may have to leave shortly after noon or so and may not be able to help tear down.

Ladies we have at least one hat and I believe 2 shirts for ladies so come on out and shoot with us! After the match we will draw numbers out of a hat that will match numbers on the prizes. I went with the mossberg 930. I looked around a lot but think for the price this will be a good starter. It will blow my 870 pump out of the water if nothing else. I've got the 930 JM Pro as well. I really like it, but I'll walk you through a couple hiccups that I've experienced: The magazine spring twisted and deformed the first time that I went to clean it, making it forever unusable. I replaced it with the Wolff Extra Power 45" spring (cut to length) that you can find at Brownells, Midway etc. That has done well for me, and I now take the end cap off to clean the magazine tube, rather than breaking it down in the middle where the extension meets the receiver, to avoid having it all spring out and twist on me again. The gap between the extension tube and the regular magazine tube isn't the greatest fit, and when I allow my follower to drop with gravity, it will get hung up on that gap. This caused a few cases of shells not feeding when the follower would get hung up. Rather than buy an aftermarket follower for $20-50, I chucked my follower into a Dremel (or anything that rotates) and used some sandpaper to put a radius on the leading edge. It still gets slightly hung up when just dropping it down the tube, but has been 100% in functionality during actual use. I welded the lift gate after almost removing my thumbnail while doing load two with the lift gate stock. There are people on the internet that will do it for $40-60, but if you or someone you know can weld, it's 2-3 beads about 1/2" wide to fill the open part of the gate. Grind it down to match the rest of the gate's profile and you're good to go. I'll be honest, mine looks like crap, but it's functional. Lastly, it does need a good cleaning every couple hundred rounds. Who better to learn if from than the Master himself: Miculek Cleaning 930 The most important thing in there is removing and cleaning the gas rings on the piston. I would never have considered that, and I couldn't find it anywhere in the manual. Oh, and the stock plug fell out after 2 trips to the range... Sorry to get long winded, but I really do like it. Some people's have run great out of the box, but I had to tweak it just a bit. For me, especially for the price, I can deal with some cleaning and tweaking here and there. If I had spent double on a Benelli or Versamax, maybe not. Anyway, run it and if you have any questions of hiccups, let me know.

Madcow, I really appreciate the info. I did a lot of research before I bit the bullet on the 930. I was really tempted on the versa max or benelli as it seemed they were both more reliable but it seemed like the 930 had a lot of good reviews but more bad then the other two. I figure if I make 5 or 6 3 guns a year I will be doing good so the mossberg won out for price. I'm hoping I get one of the good ones but if not thank you for the info!
